Ambassador visits Indo-Russian S&T Centre in Moscow; Indian branch likely to open next month
The Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr. Ajai
Malhotra, visited the newly opened Indo-Russian Science and Technology
Centre (located at the Experimental Design Bureau of Oceanological
Engineering, Russian Academy of Sciences) in Moscow on January 18, 2012.
Welcoming the Ambassador, Mr. Sergei Y. Sukonkin, Director General of
the Moscow branch of the Centre, informed that since its formal
inauguration on December 15, 2011, the Centre has established regional
nodes across Russia for networking with potential Russian technology
providers and users. It has also put in place the legal and
organizational structure to facilitate partnership building and emerge
as a nucleus for knowledge assimilation and dissemination.
Recalling that India-Russia scientific and technological cooperation is
easily the most extensive collaboration effort for either country,
Ambassador Malhotra stated: "It is gratifying to see the realization of
this Summit level initiative. The Indo-Russian S&T Centre will
prove pivotal in promoting modernization as well as commercialization
of innovative technologies developed by Indian and Russian scientists."
Ambassador Malhotra revealed: "It is likely that the Indian branch of
the Indo-Russian Science and Technology Centre would be inaugurated
next month in Delhi National Capital Region (Gurgaon). Both the Moscow
and Delhi branches of the Centre will work in tandem to enable two-way
technology transfer and intensify interaction between Indian and
Russian scientific/production institutes and industry. If an Indian or
Russian business person or entrepreneur has a proposal for technology
partnership and its commercialisation, whether seeking or offering
technology, the Indo-Russian S&T Centre can network you with
suitable partners in both countries." Such proposals may be sent to Dr
SV Joshi, Executive Director of the Indian branch ( firstname.lastname@example.org
